Russell & Jeffcoat Realtors, Inc. Organized the Tree of Wishes Project for Forest Heights Elementary School

Columbia, SC- Three Russell & Jeffcoat sales agents, April Hiscock, Kristen Pope and Lisa Eckerd, from the Northeast office organized the “Tree of Wishes” for sixty students in need ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

Hiscock, Pope and Eckerd visited Forest Heights Elementary School on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 and helped students from Mrs. Mandrell’s 1st grade class and their 5th grade buddies create Christmas Tree decorations. Each student created an unique snowman that would represent a child in need from their school. Each snowman was then placed on the Christmas Tree of Wishes. Each tree was placed in model homes throughout Heritage Forest and Deer Creek communities. After hearing of April’s plans for the Tree of Wishes, her colleagues from Russell & Jeffcoat Realtors Northeast office elected to get involved as their office Christmas project. Individuals visiting the communities, colleagues and many good hearted people adopted a child and shopped for them specifically or provided a cash donation.

On Monday, December 17, 2007, Hiscock, Pope and Eckerd revisited Forest Height Elementary School, this time they were bearing Christmas gifts. They had a special party for all sixty students that were represented on the Christmas Tree of Wishes. The party began with sugar cookies and milk and ended with all sixty students unwrapping their gifts simultaneously.

“Now, imagine sixty elementary children anxiously waiting…then at the same time…OPENING! I must confess I have never experienced a more thrilling moment. The children were so thankful and very gracious,” said April Hiscock.

“I wanted to thank you again for the Christmas presents for our students. It really was a great thing to do for them…I am still hearing “thank yous” from the students who participated. They’ll remember your kindness for a long time to come,” said Miranda Morphis, Visual Arts teacher at Forest Heights Elementary School.
